Job Summary
This role involves development, enhancement, and support of mainframe-based applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and related IBM technologies. The candidate will work on production support, release management, issue resolution, and maintenance activities while collaborating with business teams to translate functional requirements into technical specifications. The role also includes document composition support using Exstream Dialogue, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work under deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Must-Have Skills (Mandatory)
• Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, TSO/ISPF, DB2 Stored Procedures, SORT, SPUFI, QMF, MQ Series, IMS.
• Experience with ADE Workbench and SCLM for code management.
• Proficiency in mainframe data manipulation tools such as INSYNC for files and DB2 tables, IBM Load Utilities.
• Strong production support experience including pre and post-production release activities, SLA-driven issue resolution, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Experience using Exstream Dialogue tool including rules, functions, tables, variables, workflows, and document flow.
• Ability to create and execute complex test plans, analyze logic, and perform code debugging.
• Ability to translate functional specifications into technical designs and develop application components.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Experience working with Boolean logic, conditional logic, and advanced tables.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow (incidents, release/change/work requests).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in shift timings (2 PM – 8 PM IST).
Good-to-Have Skills (Optional)
• Experience with offering systems, rules maintenance systems, and AFP/PDF output creation.
• Knowledge of desktop publishing.
• Basic understanding of insurance domain and product knowledge.
• Knowledge of Agile methodology.
• Ability to train end-users or team members on application functionalities.
• Proactive approach in identifying issues and suggesting improvements.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in mainframe development and support.
• Experience in requirement analysis, logical and physical design, development, testing, and maintenance.
• Experience in both development and support environments with ability to work independently or in a team.
• Strong time-management skills and ability to prioritize tasks under pressure.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools like Excel, Word, PDF.
• Experience working in dynamic, rapidly changing environments.
